So you are interested in a Mummy makeover but want a few things clearing up about the process? Well you are in the right place. In this blog I will break down the treatment itself, what you can expect from the treatment (eg: how your scars will look or any precautions you need to take), and when you can expect to see results.
The Mummy Makeover procedure is a set of operations designed to help you restore your pre-pregnancy body shape. The operations you have are tailored to your needs and are based on your individual problems. Body contouring surgery to tighten your tummy and aesthetic breast surgery to alleviate drooping and volume loss in your breasts are two common examples.
Why do my patients seek out a mummy makeover?
The majority of women who seek mummy makeover surgery want to recover their confidence and shape before starting a family. The majority of the time, you want to get rid of the excess skin and fat in your belly that you can’t get rid of with diet and exercise alone. Also, you may have observed that your breasts have changed after pregnancy/breastfeeding, becoming more droopy and ‘deflated’ in comparison to how they were previously.
What does the consultation involve?
I will go through your entire medical history with you, including medications, allergies, smoking, and previous surgeries. I will also take the time to learn about your goals and problems.
The following will be evaluated systematically throughout your examination, and standard clinical pictures will be obtained for your medical record:
– muscle separation (rectus divarication)
– abdominal extra skin and fat
– chest wall and breast measures
– scars and stretch marks from the past
– skin quality
I will then go over your options with you. I will also talk about the scars you’re likely to get. I will then go over the possible risks and complications of surgery with you so you can make an informed decision. There will be ample time to address any questions you may have, and you can trust that I will provide you with honest, competent advice.
How long is the recovery time?
Individual recovery times vary, but most people should expect to recover in 3 to 4 weeks. We recommend taking at least two weeks off work, but depending on how quickly you recover and the type of work you do, you may be able to return sooner or later. After your operation, you will be required to wear post-surgical support garments for at least three weeks. It takes at least 6 weeks for full results to appear, however this varies from person to person.
When will I be able to see my results?
Mummy makeover surgery has quick results, and you will notice changes in your breasts and abdomen right after the procedure. The procedure will cause some oedema, which will take a few weeks to go away. The full effect will be seen after 6 weeks.
How do I book in for an appointment?
You will first need to book in for a liposuction consultation with myself. Here I will explain the process and discuss the outcome you are looking to achieve with your implants.
